One of my sewing groups hold "Diaper Showers". Its based on the idea of a "baby shower" except the gifts are nappies. Here are two shower gifts I've made. Just need to get them posted. One to Canada and one to the US. The 1st one is a Very Baby nappy made from bamboo velour, with a cover from the free Chloe Toes pattern and some flannel/hemp stretch terry wipes) The 2nd one is also a Very Baby nappy, but made side snapping. The cover is the Very Baby Snug Wrap, which I put snaps on. The little bug on the back is an iron on motif that I stitched on. I'm going to get some fabric glue and glue the rest of it on. I should have placed it a bit lower down really.... I'll know next time. The wipes with this set are also flannel and hemp stretch terry. I'm just finishing up a bunch of nappies. Off to do that now...

These are the finished Fattycake pocket nappies I was making the other day. My hand hurts from applying all the snaps! This is the inner. It's made with a really soft microfleece. Unfortunately the stud part of the snaps are cream, because I've ran out of white studs. The lilac one actually has pink studs on the inside! This is how the pocket works. Apparently it's technical name is a "sham pocket". I didn't hem the edges since its fleece and won't fray. Just thought I'd add these two pictures. I made them a month or so ago. I think they are medium sized Very baby AIOs. These are daddy-proof nappies! I made them so they'd be easy for him to use. Half the time he puts on two covers, or uses a cover with a nappy that it doesn't go with. The light blue is an AIO with a birdseye inner. The royal blue one is a pocket. This is the baby gift I made all finished and ready to go... I really hate uploading pictures with Blogger. That is NOT where I wanted that picture to go!!! Well, never mind..... This week i have been working on some newborn nappies. They need some snaps. Applying snaps really hurts my shoulder and arm. Its hard work! I'm running low on a lot of snap colours too, so I had to use a combination of white and off-white on the nappies. I have some money for my birthday and I think i might buy a new set of dies, for size 20 snaps - slightly larger than the ones I have. And some new snaps. Anyway, this is what I've made: x4 Very Baby newborn nappies, made from hemp jersey x4 Mini nappies, made with a modified version of the Very Baby pattern x2 Covers made by modifying the Very Baby pattern - these are for the mini nappies to snap into.
